 Synopsis

Nanotechnology"Nanotechnology" is one of the buzzwords of the moment - though many don't really understand what it's all about.

At the University of Durham in the UK, they not only know what it's all about, they are at the cutting edge of nanotechnology research. They're using the technology to construct magnetic computer chips that will be measured in nanometres - smaller than bacteria. The long term goal is to produce computers in which all electronics would be replaced by magnetic circuits - making them lighter to carry, and considerably more efficient and powerful to run.
