The Unit is a collaboration between the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and the Sports Councils in the UK. It was established in 2001 to provide a comprehensive child protection advice and information service to sports organisations.
2 NSPCC Coventry Business Group www.nspcc.org.uk/html/home/informationresources/coventrybusinessgroup.htm The group is a collective of west midlands businesses that support the NSPCC's work for children in Coventry through a range of fund-raising events and activities.
3 City of Coventry - Youth Council Democracy Project, Youth Offending Service, Safeguarding Scheme www.coventry.gov.uk
These three schemes are all part of Coventry's active profile in supporting the rights, welfare and protection of young people.

The Partnership, one of 45 County Sports Partnerships being established nationally by Sport England, is a network of key agencies and sports providers from across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire. It is committed to providing a single, sustainable system for all people to benefit from sport and active recreation.

The Youth Sport Trust is a registered charity established in 1994 to build a brighter future for young people through sport. Its mission is to develop and implement, in close partnership with other organisations, high quality physical education (PE) and sport programmes for all young people aged 18 months to 18 years in schools and their communities.

The FA is the governing body for football in England. It promotes child protection through its GOAL campaign which has trained over 100,000 people since its training workshops began.

British Gymnastics is the Governing Body for gymnastics in Great Britain and encompassing the following disciplines/activities: Men's and Women's Artistic; Rhythmic; Trampolining; Acrobatics; Aerobic Gymnastics; General Gymnastics; Gymnastics and movement for people with disabilities.

Stop it now! UK challenges adults to create a society that no longer tolerates the sexual abuse of children. Supported by a freephone Helpline 08081000900 its aim is to provide adults with the information they need to recognise worrying behaviour in themselves or others, and with the confidence to take responsible action when they suspect that something is wrong.
9 The Derwent Initiative - Leisure Watch www.derwentinitiative.co.uk
Leisurewatch is a project of the Derwent Initiative, an independent charity which seeks to promote an inter-agency approach to sexual offending. It is a community-based initiative which aims to reduce the risks to children and young people posed by sexually abusive behaviour. Leisurewatch trains staff about the safety of children and young people and tells them what to do if they have concerns.

Coachwise 1st4sport a brand of Coachwise Ltd, has been developing and providing 'how to' sports titles, training tools and education content by mail order since 1987. As the trading arm of scUK, the UK registered charity leading the development of coaches and the coaching system in the UK, all proceeds from orders go directly back to scUK to help them develop and advance coaching in the UK.

Taylor & Francis is a leading international academic publisher, with offices in London, Brighton, Basingstoke and Abingdon in the UK, New York and Philadelphia in the USA and Singapore and Melbourne in the Pacific Rim. It has a specialist sport and leisure section and has recently published several books on children's rights and welfare in sport.
